Italy’s PM Meloni: U.S. Tariffs a Mistake, But Not a Catastrophe
(Reuters) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has described the new trade tariffs announced by the United States as a mistake, but cautioned against overreacting to their potential impact.
“We must not fuel alarmism—it’s not a catastrophe,” Meloni said during an interview with Italian state broadcaster RAI.
She emphasized the importance of a measured response, noting:
“I’m not convinced that the best way to respond to tariffs is with other tariffs.”
